near Smalls' house as being those between Emigration and Parley's Canyons in my hometown of SLC. Later there's a night silhouette of the northern Oquirrh Mountains looking west. The mountains seen from the Rose Park baseball field (where the boys play the rich kids) were the barren hills above Beck Street, and the mountains behind the swimming pool scene I knew were those east of Ogden. I was living out-of-state the first time I saw The Sandlot, and recognizing the scenery made me homesick.
I don't know why the director of the film bothered to place a vintage California license plate on a car that only appears for an instant in the show, but it didn't fool me for a second.
