My observations from practice
First off if you are one of the 2 guys sitting next to me who said #1 I don't like screen pass' and #2 I am going to Chadder's after practice. You don't understand football and obviously you don't understand good hamburgers.

That being said...

QB's Max struggled a bit today during the scrimmage, one major issue was time management with Doman getting upset at Max for not getting the ball hiked before the play colck ran out.

Gaskins- Was not very sharp today from what I saw. The offense continued to sputter, the running game was a definite priority during the scrimmage.

Nelson- Had a great scramble when the pocket collapsed and found Rhen Brown down the sideline for a long gain that kept the drive alive. A lot of potential and very quick. Once he gets the offense down he could be a weapon.

RB's
Harvey Unga- is lighter and looks quicker, really no worries with him. He is as consistent as they come.

J.J.- is fast and will ad a good dimension to the running game. My feeling is, is that he needs the ball in the open field so he can make plays with feet. Screen passes etc. P.S. I am an advocate for the screen pass.

Malosi Te'o- looked fast and bigger than I thought. Didn't do anything really special, JJ is definitely #2, Malosi has good hands and good vision. I am not going to say he is a gamebreaker.

Kariya- I like Kariya he has good to adequate speed, good hands and hits the hole hard, his speed is deceptive. He will get touches this year, more than last year, he deserves it.

Anthony Heimuli- Dude is a beast, he played tailback in high school and looks a lot bigger now then he did in H.S. He has pretty good hands and doesn't shy away from contact. He could have an impact this year.

Jojo Pili- his calves are huge he could also sneak into some special teams and maybe some PT @ fullback if Manase Tonga isn't back. Either way my feeling is one of those guys Heimuli or Pili play at fullback.

There are other RB's but these are ones who stuck out to me.

WR's

Jacobsen- Is legit he is fast has tremendous hands and runs nice crisp routes. He will make some plays this year as a WR and as a return man.

Chambers- looks big and looks faster. Max needs to look his way, they need to get on the same page. He could do some big things, they need to design some WR screens for him to get the ball and make a play. My feeling is he and Max will get on the same page.

Hafoka- Looks good not 100% but will add depth and has sure hands.

Brett Thompson- is a big boy who doesn't at all look like a freshman, someone mentioned he could be faster than AC. That's hard to believe but he is a big kid and could cause a major mismatch.

Cody Hoffman- he is a lot bigger than I pictured. He is built well for a WR, think Chambers but taller. He is raw but we can already see what one year did for O'Neill Chambers. The future is bright.

Marshall- he is a gamer he has great hands and knows the offense and where he is supposed to be. He will make an impact this year. He ran with the ones.

Defensively- its really hard to gauge where they are at, don't listen to all they hype you may have read about from the FSU writer. We will be better this year defensively especially in the secondary.
Our linebackers will be fine, our d-line will surprise many, we have a lot more depth than we originally thought.
Speed is always an issue it always has and most likely always will. But we win regardless.
I believe the D will be a lot more aggressive in terms of play calling and blitzing. Scott Johnson will be great back there and Andrew Rich will handle his business and light some people up. Bills will play this year and will play very well he is smart and shows great instinct.

Sorry I can't type anymore on my blackberry, my hand is cramping. See you all @ 5 tonight!
