Why does everyone criticize Utah's grad school(s)? Nearly all of their graduate engineering programs and life sciences are ranked higher than BYU. I think that only BYU's graduate CS (Computer Science) program is ranked higher.
Even BYU's Law school is only two places ahead of the University of Utah (42 vs 44 last I checked a couple of months ago).
I have a friend who attends the Marriott's MBA program and has told me that BYU MBA's are good for pencil pushing and a reasonable amount of quantitative analysis, - that's it according to him - whereas the U's MBA program divulges much deeper into entrepreneurship and private equity management resulting from the U's MBA-run Venture Fund and Technology Commercialization Office. Those are two major items that BYU does not offer in their business program. The U has the largest student venture fund in the nation.
I would chose graduate school at the U any day, but I'm out here in Ca. I never graduated from either school, but just like to watch the Y play.
