No way

As it stands now, there is no incentive to schedule anybody tough out of conference because record is paramount. However, if a team could still have a chance at a national championship even with 1-2 nonconference losses, then nonconference scheduling will improve. The regular season would actually be better with more intersectional games being scheduled between big time teams.

The effect on the regular season would also be nominal. Think about it, the only way you get in the tournament is win your conference, or hope for one of only five at large bids. Teams would be playing for seeding and for homefield advantage throughout the playoffs.
