Look, we all know Texas A&M is not crazy about anyone being added to the Bevo 10...not even Arkansas. All they care about is getting their $20+ million per year. As long as that happens, they are perfectly comfortable with 10. If their partners in TV land, however, come to them and say that $20+ million ain't happenin' if you don't get back to 12, then things get interesting. The irony of it all is that the Texas State Legislature will actually HELP the situation. That's right, help. They will NOT allow Texas and A&M to be in separate conferences so A&M is toothless when it comes to a threat of going SEC or the like. Eventually, they (and any other holdouts...Mizzou, you're on the clock) will have to come into lockstep with the idea of expansion back to twelve.
Meanwhile, BYU would be absolutely IDIOTIC to have any expectation of a Big 12 invite AND rest on their laurels. BYU is not idiotic (read: anymore). They are moving and SHOULD move full speed ahead with their independence plans. Put everything in place from bowl deals to BCS inclusion to future schedules. But, if the Big 12 comes a-callin', all that work will still have been totally worth it because independence is proving BYU's worth. Without that proof, well, things get quite a bit more dicey.
