would call that a draw.
And I did not post that to flame, as I think BYU and Utah were the standard bearers of the MWC along with CSU, when CSU fell off we were joined by TCU.
But the hyperbole saying Utah was a middle of the road team in the MWC, when they won the head to head, more bowls, 2 BCS bowls to none, a much greater pct. against BCS teams etc... Well a bit ridiculous.
And you do realize that the 80's were not the only relevant decade don't you?
Head to head, Utah is 6-4 the last 10 years, 11-9 in the last 20 years, and 51-31-4 all-time against BYU.
We have the exact number of conference titles playing in the same conferences (24 a piece).
Utah has a much better all-time win pct.
BYU had a fantastic 25 year run, where they had a run similar to BSU but sustained it for much longer. Top 25 finishes almost yearly with some top 10 finishes and a national title. No other non-aq team has had a run like that ever. But there is more to college than the 80's and part of the 70's and 90's.
I do know this, no one who is alive and posts on this board, will ever see the day when BYU has a winning record in the head to head against Utah. BYU would have to win the next 20 years without a loss just to tie the series. So to try to act as a decade where Utah went 6-4 and had a winning record against BYU as if it were an aberration, well that is pretty weak sauce. BYU has only won the head to head in two decades---The 70's and 80's. That's it.
