Are there enough taxpayers that could do the following?
I just read a below post about someone who took a class at Oklahoma that brought up an interesting comment:
Quote the student:
"How in the Sam Hill Utah ever got into that discussion is beyond me, I almost feel like it is the PAC-10 trying to say "we can't handle the false LDS philosophy they teach at BYU so let's build up Utah so they can eventually capture the fan base BYU has.""

If BYU is left out of the 4 SC with 16 teams each, I wonder if a special election of the taxpayers could recall Utah from the PAC 10 as a protest against the PAC10's prejudice. If the majority of TAXPAYERS in the state of Utah, voted against the PAC 10 trying to control them, I believe this could be done. Taxpayers money goes to the U of U whether their a fan of Utah or BYU. If the shoe was on the other foot, you would have Ute fans screaming and hollering their disagreement with the system.

The idea that a conference outside the state is controlling in state money paid to U of U by us the taxpayers is equivalent to what Texas Legislatures are trying to do with Texas A&M. Their saying that A&M, a state run school (same as U of U), are making their own decisions as to what their doing with the SEC. If the Texas Legislature jumps in and thwarts this exodus--what's the difference here in Utah. By the very principal of the Constitution, under state rights, the taxpayers should be able to decide. We need to put this on the ballot and if enough people think that this is a Constitutional issue, so be it. I for one, as a Utah resident, and paying Utah tax, don't take kindly to the PAC 10 trying to bully their way into team selections that by its very selection system is prejudice.

Some will say that this is being a poor sport, Utah Utes hater, and on and on. That is not necessarily true. I probably support the Utes as much as any Ute when their playing out of state rivals like Alabama and Pittsburgh.

My point is this, suppose the stock market takes a huge hit and Utah's budget is forced into covering state pensions like all the other states to the point of a huge deficit. At the same time, the Utes, don't do as well as they think they can. What if we have to subsidize their program? Look at basketball--the attendance was terrible. If we, as taxpayers, are forced to have our taxes raised because of this--we have to think about this before it could happen. As a result, a Utah recall election from the PAC10 would tell the PAC10 that their interstate prejudice needs to be opposed by withdrawing, UofU, as a taxpayer team from the PAC!
