and to further clarify on this:
my issue with people saying that it's Android vs. iOS is that iOS represents one single brand that owns the operating system and the devices that it's used on--such is not the case with Android; Google has the OS, but the real $$$ from all the Android devices goes to a lot of different companies.

In other words, it's like saying that collectively, all other sedans are outselling Mercedes Benz, but neglecting to recognize that the revenue from the collective sedan sales, while greater than that of Mercedes, floods into a lot of different pockets...

With 4% adoption of the newest version of the platform, I'd say that the fact that people happen to purchase Android devices should do nothing to scare Apple. They will continue to make more money than any other single device vendor, have a much stronger, universally more influential OS, and have much higher adoption rate.
