I have a lot of friends who are BYU fans and we enjoy a friendly rivalry, but then we come from an era when BYU wasn't very good. I did suffer though Utah's dark years when BYU had LaVelle, but now I think it's just gotten too nasty on both sides. I'm hopeful that a little break could give both side some perspective.

BYU and USU for that matter would be a good opportunity to play a good team without a bunch of travel costs. Both teams could benefit from a few quality opponents, but there is simply too much jerkiness going on. For every BYU fan who's had an issue at RES I can point to a Utah fan that's had an issue at LES. It's why I won't go down there anymore. I prefer to watch the football not argue with some fan.

We have a BYU fan in our section, who comes to every Utah game. He has season tickets (through his father in law I believe), but every BYU game he shows up in his BYU fan gear. We have some good natured banter and back and forth, but nothing that could be considered aggressive or nasty. If the rest of the rivalry were like this it would be fine, but it's not.
