I think both parties were expecting a move. Utah was down a defensive line coach, but all the interviews they had conducted were with offensive coaches so it was clear Kyle was looking for a change on the offensive side of the ball. After BJ was promoted there was much speculation that ARod would be leaving soon, so I don't think anyone was surprised. But, he was still employed at Utah and they would have been happy to have him stay.

I've never heard of the son mentioned in this article.
