Utah wanted it more than BYU players
They got up for this game way more than BYU did. Never understood why our players struggled to play like this was an important game.

Line play
CoopDizz

aggression
Bronoc

Yup, low mental fortitude.
EEcougar

Trademark, low mental fortitude, esp in the trenches

yup

I think there were probably multiple reasons why. Luck always plays a factor,
RockOn1
7/25/14 1:46pm
IMHO, I don't think any of those games had luck as a factor
Byu4life
7/25/14 1:48pm
maybe 2010
Bronoc
7/25/14 1:49pm
A lot of luck for them in 2012, too

Just a random thought, who's idea was it to play a QB with a broken back?
RockOn1
7/25/14 1:59pm
Utah didn't break his back or decide he would play
CoopDizz
7/25/14 2:11pm
Ok, 54-10 probably did not require luck.
RockOn1
7/25/14 1:51pm
Utah scored more points.
Blueto
7/25/14 1:46pm
BYU stopped living right, on and off the field.

Never about talent. Always mental.
southernfriedcougar
7/25/14 1:48pm
So wrong. Utah has been more talented.
The Lone Wolf

1. speed at corner vs our receivers. So go single coverage

QB and Oline play. Utah had better play in both areas every year except 2010.

Complete inability to throw the long ball on BYU's part.
SandYFan
7/25/14 2:02pm
inability to throw the long ball= mug recievers at the line, rush QB.
traveller 1860
7/25/14 2:05pm
Mainly because the OL has given our QBs no time to throw the past 4 years
CoopDizz
7/25/14 2:15pm
Utah treats that game differently, Bronco does not.
Flyski
7/25/14 2:09pm
Not true - in fact, last year it was emphasized over and over again . . .
CoopDizz
7/25/14 2:14pm
Utah= Total different FB Culture & mental approach to the game
traveller 1860
7/25/14 2:18pm
Makes sense, I can go with that.
Flyski
7/25/14 2:32pm
Talent gap and mental edge, both equal.
The Lone Wolf
7/25/14 2:16pm
Mental
thenewguy
7/25/14 2:18pm
Utah wanted it more than BYU players

Doesn't this point to coaching?
RockOn1
7/25/14 3:12pm
Yes, but it can go beyond that too
Harrison0Yfan
7/25/14 3:25pm
Of course motivation is different for each player. The coaches' responsibility
RockOn1
7/25/14 3:53pm
I think BYU players cared a lot about the game
Bronoc

Recruiting is a big part of coaching >Utah had better Players.
BYU DUDE 1984

I was hoping Bronco would use the bye week for mental edge, not vacation

Utah has had better talent, coaching and mental toughness. How can you disagree
BlueForLife
7/25/14 6:28pm
I don't think Utah had the mental edge unless you refer Utah being mental
TheDean
7/25/14 7:42pm
The past few years we have struggled mentally against our rival and also in
BlueForLife
7/25/14 8:58pm
I don't think so as BYU had a 16-0 lead with 6-8 minutes left in the game in
