It's difficult to find a balance between being happy with yourself, and the way your body naturally looks, and making yourself attractive and healthy. As with so many other things, the problem is the extremes we are shown. Body shaming is definitely a huge issue. And yes, society most definitely idolizes thin. But it's becoming a trend to justify and say overweight is fine as long as we are happy with the way we are living. And then it's also becoming a trend for what I consider over-exercise and health - where that's all they do, and other things in their life get neglected.
It's so important for people to understand that they should be happy with themselves, but that they should also do what the can to keep themselves healthy (for their own well being, and for those around them - because your health affects those around you, as well) and attractive and presentable. Everyone has a different shape and size, and we shouldn't be ashamed of our bodies, but we also shouldn't say it's okay to be unhealthy. Society has so many messages bombarding everyone, I don't think a solution for people is going to really be found. Society isn't really good at finding balance in things. It's usually all or nothing.
