the morning. Lavell's teams, and Derik Stevenson could never have been described as "violent killers". I can see a former offensive player complaining about the state of the BYU offense, but for the most part, Lavell's defenses were soft and unmotivated. Lavell's teams played creampuff schedules, lost more big games than they won, and played USU and UofU teams that weren't nearly the caliber of the current incarnations. I don't mean to diminish Lavell Edward's accomplishments, but I think some people tend to look back and forget all the things that used to drive us nuts about his teams.
