Honestly, I don't think there's a particularly good way to compare football success with bball success.
BBall is so incredibly watered down with bad teams that football would never even consider in an analysis (Div1a vs 1aa) that comparing one against the other doesn't make a lot of sense IMO. If I had to do it, I'd compare Sagarin rankings because at least Sagarin includes the crappy football teams (around 240 total) as well as the crappy bball teams (roughly 350) when it makes an analysis. Based on that standard, BYU football and BYU bball have done about the same over the last 10 years in terms of %tile finishes.
