This is the recruiting class we've been waiting years on.
We have reasonable size and presence in the paint.
Our coaching staff has learned to coach D a little better after a pathetic first 3/4 of last season.
Yes, it will take some time for this team to gel, get some chemistry, and learn to play efficiently together, but this is definitely not a rebuilding year.
High hopes for BYU fans are always fine... and fans should always have high hopes (but not jump off a cliff when things don't work out).
This year's team is legit and definitely worth having high hopes for. Not expecting a Final 4 appearance, but a top 2 finish in the WCC and at least a win in the NCAA tournament is a realistic expectation.
BTW, our football team is just a few plays away from being a 1 or 2 loss team. Even with our new coaching staff changes, there were a lot of reasons to believe this was going to be a good football team. I just don't think we expected Taysom and our receivers to be as mediocre as they have been. The o-line, especially with the injuries they've seen, has over-achieved IMHO.
