video of the police response to the scene is quite inconsistent with Bennett's claims about how he came to be tangled up in it in the first place (the first paragraph of his letter). He claims he was detained because he was black, but I think the video shows he was detained because of the way he responded to the police's SECOND sweep of the area. Even viewing the facts in the light most favorable to Bennett, I think this situation shows how much harm the BLM movement has done as it has made young black men so unjustifiably terrified of being murdered by police that they respond in a manner that leads to more heat-of-the-moment split-second life-or-death interactions, which leads to more incidents, which perpetuates the BLM movement.
We could have so much more productive discussion if we focused on improving police training and protocol instead immediately jumping to the false racist narrative.
