No one won the "national championship" because College Football doesn't have...
... a true "national championship" game.
The only thing that crowns "national champions" are polls and ranking systems, and some of those had UCF as #1.
So according to that metric (which is the only that anyone uses to claim "national champions"), UCF has every right to claim what they're claiming.
It's not like they just made it up.
