They have their own special requirements for wholesalers....IIRC cheaper is best

Fred Meyer is under Kroger, and Smith's is the same company in Utah, but I haven't noticed a great difference in produce

With apples, it's mostly about the variety for me. Costco always has gala or fuji, which are pretty bland. I've found

most of the cheese is moldy as it ages...they just cut it off before you see it
