But if it's a jury trial then public opinion is much more influential, I would
think. If it was a strict legal matter I would think it would simply be a matter of facts and the interpretation of those facts. Jury members can and do have agendas and biases, even after going through a selection process, right? Was the OJ criminal trial verdict a simple legal matter?

I think it was the strategy of the USWNT side all along to drum up public opinion via a sympathetic media, timed to their world cup run, eventually going to a jury trial (if USSF didn't capitulate in the wake of overwhelming media opposition), and bet on a sympathetic jury.

But I'm not a lawyer, so what the heck.
