This struck me as odd. Do we try and ensure no kick return or try and bait them
into a return by kicking short (or force them by not kicking into the end zone). What is the current thinking?

From Ed Lamb in the article:
“His kickoffs have been amazing. He can put it in the back of the end zone, although that’s something we don’t want to use,” Lamb said. “We want to be a kickoff team that goes down and covers, and takes some risks, but to have that as a tool is tremendous.”

I thought you tried to kick it out to prevent a return.
