Some years the computers picking two teams was good enough. Some years the “plus one” model would have worked. Some years the 4 team playoff will seem ideal.

We need something that will work every year. And if you get 5 pretty equal conference champs, 4 teams doesn’t work. So that shouldn’t be the system.

If anything, this year is an example of why you shouldn’t schedule strong ooc opponents because that’s possibly keeping Oregon out.

Frankly I prefer the 16 team with every conference champ getting in but I know that won’t happen, so I’m okay with 8
