could have/should have lost to San Diego just a week earlier.  And that's what makes college basketball so fun/entertaining is it's often more competitive when you least expect it and there are some variables that influence the outcome of a game that are difficult to bottle up and replicate on demand. The Gonzaga game was just that, one game, albeit an encouraging one.
