Evolution seems to show organisms change and adapt to their circumstances, that the process is gradual and incremental and based in genetic variance, that reproducing is a fundamental, and that living things innately recognize their sustenance. The fossil record is pretty developed now to support that.
So a virus varies over time, reproduces, and recognizes a host that can sustain it. But when it becomes too fatal to a host it dies out and less virulent strains prosper. But it seems like viruses would have killed all higher life forms before getting much out of the Petri dish.
So the scriptural basis that Divine intervention in pestilence seems a more valid explanation.
Russell M. Nelson stated in 1987 in a church magazine that he found the theory of evolution unbelievable. I agree with him that you have to have God to explain our current circumstances.
