His M.O. was to make huge promises, and then license or acquire somebody else's technology in order to put together a mockup of a product that he could demo to potential investors, but then when people asked him about why he wasn't delivering any of the promised "next big thing" products, he would just move the goalposts and say that he had moved on from that old tech to the even newer and better next big thing.

And then he just repeated that cycle until he had enough money to 'resign' with his golden parachute.
