because my parents did not want me attending sex ed in the CA school system - and this was back in the 1990s. I would get sent to sit in the library by myself as I was the only kid pulled during the session. I remember it being pretty embarrassing as I had to leave in front of the class and my friends but now as an adult and parent I realize why they did it. I think the first time I ever had some form of sex ed in public school was in high school - 9th grade mandatory Health class.
