Yes, there are some mediocre to bad movies, but there are quite a few good ones, too. These four stand out to me.
The Shawshank Redemption - one of the best movies of all times.
The Shining (Kubrick's version) - a terrific suspense/horror movie.
The Green Mile - great psychological/character story.
Stand by Me - An excellent, rewatchable film.
(I haven't seen the new adaptation. The last one was so-so. I love the book, at least the first 800 pages or so. . .)
