Once you've sold 140% of a companies stock, it seems like shorts were just

begging for someone to come along and push up the stock. I agree shorting is very important to keep bubbles from forming (more than they do), but at the same time extreme shorting should be punished the same way as overly exuberant buying is - in the pocketbook.
