While exports of petroleum have increased significantly in recent years, the US
still imports 9 million barrels per day primarily from the Middle East. We export light sweet and import heavy sour to blend since the refineries are geared toward a certain gravity.

We got more light sweet than we can use so we export it. But you’re right, the US is a net exporter.
