I am not exactly sure what BYU fans want

The BYU basketball head coaching job is not as prestigious as the BYU Football head coaching job. If you're not going to be paid market rate with other coaches, you'll need prestige or importance or something. BYU is and likely always will be a football school. The basketball head coaching job is a stepping stone job.
