For many years, I've felt that intercollegiate athletics have outgrown the universities. The tail is wagging the dog. It has moved into the high schools as well.
What Quinn Ewers saying is, we need a club system not regulated by schools. If we had club sports, Ewers wouldn't have to give up a year of his sport so he could earn a few bucks. The NIL will make "every man for himself" and the glory of playing for the school will end. Ewers left his teammates in a lurch. 1 month before the seasons starts, he bails on them. Just like college players bailing on their teams and skipping bowl games.
This may be the beginning of a major cultural sports shift. Combine that with super conferences at the college level, and sports will be completely different in the coming years.
