I started down that path and decided it wasn't worth it since I already had a 32bit mainboard. If you have an 8bit board
that won't support some of the fancier marlin features it might be worth it. It's just a lot of work to get it set up and configured the first time.

I have a 4.2.2 board and am running octoprint. I’ve spent a lot of time getting a marlin version I’m happy with.
