that such and such metro would take us to church on Sunday.

That's it. We were getting our passports scanned in the police station, which you have to do when you rent an Airbnb, and were not talking to anyone Chinese (because we know the rules). I turned to my wife and said, "hey that's the same metro we ride to church on sunday". My daughter noticed one of the policemen overheard us.

Soon after, grilled for 2 hours over who we had talked to, what we had done, did we proselyte, etc. Kind of scary. I packed a bag to go to jail because I thought I probably would for at least a couple of days.

Funny ending to the story. They were trying to figure out which church we are and asked, "Which Christian church are you?" I said, "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints."

"Yes, but which one?"

"Uh, that's the one. That's the name."

"Yes, but WHICH Church of Jesus Christ?"

After about 15 minutes of that back and forth they talked amongst themselves and came back and asked, "Do you know Nielsen?"

"Uh, lots of them ... oh you mean Russell Nielsen? Yeah, that's our prophet."

They were then very happy and knew what church we were. The interview ended soon after and they said, "please come back and give a presentation of your research to our police department."

Uh, no ... y'all had me scared.
