I think this is one reason why large corporations place their warehousing

operations in tax friendly states.

example: Reno and LV are large warehousing locations. They can reach SF bay area or LA area with 1 day ground shipping, but avoid the CA taxes on inventories.

(I heard this once... not sure about it's factual accuracy)
