I'm normally one to want to go see every site possible, but this was one where I really enjoyed chilling.
We did a snorkeling excursion which was fun. There's also a replica 16th-century town inside the community with great restaurants, shopping, and views of the river. Definitely recommended. They also have horseback riding, shooting (clay pigeons or real birds) and probably some other stuff. I would've loved to golf there, but it wasn't in the cards. Such a beautiful course. The beach is really pretty there, and there are great restaurants within Casa de Campo to choose from if you go that route. There's a great dessert place by the marina that we hit up. I think they also have a movie theater by the marina.

But I spent a lot of time reading by the pool at the house or at the beach.

One fun thing we did was impromptu. The chef we had on property owns a restaurant in downtown La Romana, and we asked him if instead of cooking for us one night, we could go to his restaurant. Definitely not the touristy part of town, but he essentially shut down his tiny restaurant for the 14 of us gringos. Really cool experience for us.

We also spent a couple days in Santo Domingo and saw some sites there, and also went to the "campo" outside the city. My brother's partner grew up in the campo north of Santo Domingo, so we went and visited his family. As cool as Casa de Campo was, meeting his aunts, uncles, siblings, and cousins in their tiny, poor mountain town was an absolute highlight for us.
