Rio Verde is a subdivision that built without proper water planning.
The Valley has nearly 7 years of water storage available to it underground. Meaning if we didn’t have a drop of surface water, and usage remained the same, we could cover demand for a 7 year period.
That plus the Salt River Project watershed is in balance, meaning the amount of water nature puts into it, equals or exceeds the amount of water we take out of it.
The state continues to need to actively plan for drought but it’s probably one of the best positioned states on the CO River basin
