There is someone planted squarely at the foot of the bed during a code. Who is it? The physician. In a proper medical facility they’re running the code. What are they doing physically? Likely nothing. They’re monitoring what is occurring to assure its being done properly, working through diagnosis, telling people what to do/correcting things being done improperly, and so on.
