watching my brother's dog and he started favoring one of his legs. It started getting worse so my wife took him to the vet (against  my advice)

Turns out he had a pulled ligament. Vet kinda took his leg and adjusted it while pulling on it. I guess there was an audible 'snap' and it was totally fine after that.
