Don’t get me wrong. I love Richie and was excited about Chandler and thought they could help BYU have a special season - both special players at BYU.

Can they hang at Kentucky…sure. Are they special players at Kentucky? That’s a different bar

Kentucky’s system has been about getting the cream of the crop talent and figuring out how to get them to mesh and play together.

BYUs has been about getting solid players and ocassional stars who are fits at BYU and will play well together in a team first way. Even Jimmer was a 4 yr guy.

If you look at player rankings (based on talent) BYU has historically been nowhere close on recruiting talent vs Kentucky.

That doesn’t mean BYU can’t play great team ball and beat teams with more physical talent.

One and dones have dominated college ball for 10-20 yrs. NIL/transfer portal brings a new wrinkle with more emphasis on proven stars from the transfer portal who have more college experience …but I seriously doubt the blue blood winning formula is to take bench guys and freshmen from BYU.
