Louisville, Cincinnati, UConn, Temple, South Florida, Central Florida, Houston, or SMU?
Each of these teams were invited and participated in a BCS level conference for at least one season. Name something - anything - that was on the field related (such as going to a BCS game) that got them their invite....
Not to mention that other teams like Tulsa, Tulane, Navy, Memphis, ECU, and even BSU & SDSU were invited while they were still a BCS league even if they never joined or didn't join until after they were demoted....
This would be a very hard case to make and I wouldn't envy the foolishness someone would have to go through to try to prove it was much other than geography, market and other off field demographics (academic/religion/affiliation)....on field performance had very little to do with any of those if you wanted to stack them up and compare to BYU....
Certainly a few of those schools would be above BYU on the court in men's & women's basketball but I'm doubtful any other sport, that BYU plays, would see any of those others listed as significantly better programs than BYU....
