It's all about getting healthy by March
So, its looks like no one outside the program is aware Collinsworth is hurting with a quad contusion.
Winder of course is still recovering; hopefully Austin will rejoin the team soon. If Aytes can return with a modest contribution, then, this team has a shot at making some serious noise in March.
With Austin and Aytes, bigs on this team are decent to good; guards are first rate.
When healthy, BYU can play with anyone. According to Pomeroy, BYU has been one of the most unlucky teams in the nation (324th) and that has a way of averaging out over time.
Despite all the weeping and wailing here, very little separates 15-7 from 20-2 or even 22-0. Austin, Aytes, Winder, KC, Haws, and Halford healthy all season surely would have been more than enough to compensate. It's expected to have some health issues, but not to be ravaged by what has occurred to BYU this year.
Defense is an enduring, though perhaps improving, weakness in the program and the dominant factor that keeps BYU from elite status.
Nevertheless, i still believe in this team and it's prospects for an upside surprise down the stretch.
