6-7 smallish meals a day that overall meet your caloric intake goal. This maintains your metabolism at a higher level that burns more fat. Vegetables are "free" in that sense, so eat veggies to your heart's delight. Treat yourself to a nice meal a week to keep your sanity. While cardio is good, don't skip lifting weights either, as it builds muscle that keeps your metabolism running at a higher rate. There are vitamin pills that help promote a healthy metabolism, as well as protein shakes that have thermogenics that accelerate metabolism.
