(Big 12 OR BYU for that matter) say at face value?
There is a reason why organizations do PR folks.
What they say about a situation is rarely the whole story.
It is naive to think that they're going to just come out and give people all the details or even allude to the degree of significance of conversations that took place. There are reputations and relationships to protect. Why play their hand to the public? They're always... ALWAYS... going to paint the brighter picture.
The day that any official from any organization comes out and lays it all on the line as to what happened with any sensitive situation... I will be shocked.
