...but I was very happy he picked yesterday to show up and play. That hasn't always been the case this year. I don't think you expect your seniors to be so unreliable as he has been. He's the leading receiver for BYU but he's also received significantly more targets on the year than any other WR and going into the game yesterday had the lowest catch rate by far of anyone on the team.
His penchant for not showing up in games hurt us in the Missouri game. He had 4 catches for 20 yds. That would be a game that we could've really used a senior leader like him to show up and lead the team. It was great he showed up yesterday and had a big game because we needed it. To say he consciously took on a heavy leadership role when Taysom went down is a real stretch I think. It was after the Michigan game that his own position coach called him out personally by name as an example of someone who was not being a leader and needed to step up in a big way.
It's been nice that he's been a nice goal line target for Tanner.
