I was reasonably sure that they had adequate gear for the conditions. It's not hard to stay warm at 26 degrees (and you meant low, not high, right?), but that's if you have decent cold weather gear.
I would not want to be responsible for the boys' safety and well-being, and I wouldn't want to deal with the complaining if they aren't prepared for those temperatures. They don't need great cold weather gear, but they do need some kind of cold weather gear.
