Having served my mission in Montana, here's the difference for me ...
(1) More sunlight is better than less sunlight. I hated in the winter when it got dark at 4 PM.
(2) Dreary, snowy conditions are depressing. When I got to Montana in February 1997, I thought I had landed on the moon. It snowed that year in May and I wanted to cry.
(3) I would much rather have cold air blowing on me than hot air.
(4) Less clothes is better than more clothes #science
