On my mission I'd fill the camelback halfway with water at night, stick it in the freezer laying horizontally with the opening pointing up, then fill it up the rest of the way in the morning. It would melt at just the right pace for the whole day of bike riding. Nowadays I have an ice cube maker in my freezer.
