That is just one of several comments on the state of BYU sports.
1. Important to get into a P5 because “that’s where the best competition is...”.
2. “There’s a separation, there’s a time out there when we wouldn’t be able to compete”.
3. He disagrees that the HC is overly harsh but acknowledges that only players, LDS and non-LDS, that fit the BYU model will or should sign on.
4. The requirement that the HCs need to be active LDS, shrinks the talent pool but no such restrictions apply to assistant coaches.
Non-LDS assistants add diversity to the coaching staff and help broaden the athletes’ experiences.
