You sound like a politician, putting ridiculous words into someone else's mouth.
I'm not saying either side of this divide is right or wrong. But our politicians are forever putting riduculous words into the other side's mouths and talking past one another. Let's use abortion as an example: Republicans would have you think Democrats want babies dead. Democrats want you to think Republicans don't like women's rights, but do want to control women's bodies. But both sides actually have very valid arguments, as is the case with BYU's status as Indy vs G5.

I doubt anyone in the G5 camp would claim they want to 'just go back to the kids table forever', or that they are arguing to 'lock BYU into "have not" status'. My hunch is that the G5 camp might see Indy as our path to becoming the Rocky Mountain version of Army (former football powerhouse that is now just an afterthought) instead of the ND of the West. In other words, reasonable minds might think that the Indy path might lock BYU into a "have not" position much more than G5. Reasonable minds might also see G5 as a better path to P5. Let's be honest, Utah and TCU successfully walked that path in recent memory.

Also, to claim that the G5 camp is tucking tail after 1 bad season also just seems false. Many in the G5 camp wanted G5 long before 2017. None other than Bronco Mendenhall was pretty outspoken that BYU only had a short life as an Indy and needed to get into a conference relatively quickly.

So why the emotional post now, CalGTR? Perhaps as part of the Indy camp, you're having a harder time validating the Indy path after such an abysmal season. That special season (or special 2 to 4 seasons if we're honest) BYU needs to validate itself as Indy must feel further away, and that's scary. I'm sorry if you're scared, CalGTR. It'll be OK, BYU will bounce back.
