everywhere and jobs are scarce. Second, there is often age bias ... people may not want to hire a guy close to retirement. Third, there most certainly are not many journalism positions in Utah, so he'd have to move, which is tough for anyone if they aren't wanting to. Fourth, journalists are paid like school teachers, so it's not like they can float on savings for very long, at least not most journalists.
Losing a solid reporting gig as a journalist is tough, very tough. Hopefully it works out for him.
