not sure where the disconnect here is. clothes aren't useless. like, i would
get kicked out of work if I didn't have clothes on. jewelry is useless. it can't be that hard to understand the difference.
cheap clothes vs expensive clothes - they both serve a very useful purpose.
cheap jewelry vs expensive jewelry - both are largely useless. (I say largely because some jewelry has use - watches and such)
again, the question was what do folks spend a lot of money on that you don't understand. my answer is jewelry because it serves no purpose. I really don't understand why a person would spend 50,000 on a bracelet. similarly, I don't understand why they would spend $1000 on a sweater, but at least a sweater has a legitimate use. I don't believe clothes and jewelry are similar at all in terms of usefulness.
